Partner in the Multifamily Performance Program
A New York ENERGY STAR® Multifamily Building is the
answer to lower energy bills, better performance, and
improved health and safety. These savings come from
a variety of energy-saving features, including increased
insulation, high-performance windows and doors,
high-efficiency heating and cooling systems, energy saving
appliances and lighting, and innovative
technologies such as advanced meters, renewable
energy, and combined heat and power systems.
NYSERDA sponsors collaboration between a qualified
Modeling Partner to assist the developer and the design
team over the course of the building design, from
schematic design through construction documents.
The Modeling Partner uses state-of-the-art software and
modeling techniques to compare the more efficient
design, the product of the collaborative process, with a
standard building model to evaluate the energy savings
it will achieve. If the design saves 20% or more of the
energy usage compared to the standard building and
meets a set of Minimum Performance Standards, the
Developer and the design team will earn the distinction
of having designed and developed a New York
About NYSERDA
NYSERDA is a public benefit corporation established by law
in 1975. It administers the New York Energy $martSM program
under an agreement with the Public Service Commission.
The suite of New York Energy $martSM Programs include a
number of programs designed to support energy efficiency
improvements in multifamily residential buildings. This unique
segment of the buildings market has huge energy savings
potential that can translate into substantial money savings
for both owners and residents.
All New York Energy $martSM Programs are funded by a
System Benefits Charge (SBC) paid by electric distribution
