How To Choose The Best Contractor For Your Home
Before selecting a HVAC contractor TAG Mechanical Systems has
provided you, the homeowner, with the best tools in selecting the right
one for you. Please make sure to print this page along with the documents
below in order to help you find the right one.
Contractor Should Maintain the Following Qualifications:
1. Contractor shall be technically certified, licensed and
insured to perform this work.
Equipment Requirements
1. All equipment shall be ENERGY STAR qualified equipment.
2. Provide matched heating cooling system components by the same
manufacturer.
3. Provide a programmable thermostat or controller.
4. Evaluate and provide a sealed combustion unit gas furnace if applicable
to the site conditions.
5. The air conditioning unit shall contain Chlorine-Free (Puron®/R-410A)
refrigerant.
Execution of HVAC Services
1. Contractor shall furnish all supervision, labor, tools,
materials, equipment and all other services necessary to certify, test,
and otherwise complete all work as specified herein unless otherwise
agreed upon.
2. Perform an on site inspection to become familiar with the work. Conduct
an independent energy audit to properly size the heating and cooling
equipment in accordance with ACCA Manual J requirements. Under no
circumstances will sizing of the replacement equipment be based on the
existing system.
3. Contractor shall commence work and complete the installation in one
continuous operation without delay or interruption. Work shall be
conducted on a standard 8 hour day 40 hour work week. Extended hours are
acceptable with Owner's concurrence.
4. Remove and dispose of existing equipment in compliance with applicable
regulatory requirements.
5. Vacuum existing ductwork to remove accumulated dirt and debris.
6. To the limited extent practical, seal existing ductwork.
7. Furnish, and install new replacement equipment in compliance with
manufacturers' instructions.
Quality Assurance Requirements
1. Test new equipment in strict compliance with
manufacturers' instructions.
2. Test all instrumentation and control systems.
3. Conduct a combustion safety test.
4. Balance the system.
5. Confirm refrigerant charge and airflow across the coils meets
manufacturer's requirements.
6. Test and verify proper airflow of the heating system.
7. Test burner operation and venting of flue gases.
8. Leak test gas connections.
Submittal Requirements
1. Provide copies of test results to the Owners.
2. Provide warranty information.
Contractors Proposal Shall Contain:
1. Provide a detailed proposal listing all costs for labor and equipment.
2. Provide a copy of the heating/cooling load calculations.
3. Provide a detailed listing of all equipment including, make, model
number, and sizing.
4. Provide a schedule detailing equipment availability, when the work will
start and be completed.
