Get A Comprehensive Home Assessment

Research has shown that the number of defects in new homes has continued to rise over the last decade. By employing TAG as your Home Energy Rater, or if you are going to build or buy an ENERGY STAR home, simply as your eyes and ears during construction, we'll help insure you get the absolutely best possible product.

With a priority on health and safety, TAG Services performs a Comprehensive Home Assessment.  We use the latest in technology to look at the performance of your home with respect to health, safety, and energy efficiency.

The Comprehensive Home Assessment has two phases. The first phase consists of taking inventory of, and reporting on, the current conditions in your home, including the following:

What is it?

	Health and safety (Carbon Monoxide levels/Moisture problems)
	Air-infiltration rates
	Insulation levels
	Domestic hot water system
	Heating system efficiency
	Cooling system/central air conditioning efficiency - optional - extra fees may apply
	Distribution system (ductwork) - if applicable
	Lighting
	Major appliances

Dust Blaster Testing is available for an additional fee.

Thermal Imaging - optional - extra fees may apply

TAG is proud to announce its most recent professional service, Thermal Imaging with the infrared camera. Only the most serious of home energy consultants commit to this level professionalism.

With this technology we are able to see energy (whether heating or cooling) leaving the home. If every home out there was built properly, sealed with correct air barriers, and insulated properly, this technology would never have seen the light of day as far as home energy diagnostics is concerned.

Second Phase of Our Home Assessment

The second phase consists of developing a work scope for proposed improvements, including a cost and energy savings estimate.

How is it done?

We use a number of diagnostic tools during the first phase of your Comprehensive Home Assessment. Some of the tools our professional HVAC contractor will use are:

	Carbon Monoxide (CO) Analyzer: Important Health and Safety tool
	Blower Door: Measures the air tightness of a home and aids in identifying areas where air leakage is occurring.
	Duct Blaster: Measures how ‘leaky’ the ductwork is in a home (This tool would only be used in a home that has a forced air heating system and/or central air conditioning).

We'll employ all the skills we've developed through our Building Performance Institute training, as well as our partnership with a local professional engineer, to provide you with a detailed analysis of the condition of the home you're considering purchasing. We'll perform visual inspections to ascertain if there are structural problems, mold/mildew issues, code violations, condition of walls, windows, and attic areas. We'll test for proper combustion of gas/oil/propane appliances and check for fuel leaks...we'll even check the oven (if you plan on including it in the purchase), and we'll check the ductwork for leaks, etc. This information will be summarized into a concise report you can use when negotiating with the seller.

If you're a seller , and want to get an idea of the condition of your home prior to sale, we can help there too. We'll perform the same inspections and provide the report so you can determine if there are improvements you’ll need to make...prior to placing your home on the market for sale.
